Android O Developer Preview!

A couple of days back was the most awaited Google I/O where Google focuses the launch of several of Software and Hardware stuff they work on over the year. One of them was the Android "O", which popularly has been installed through the Android Developers Android O Developer Preview Program.

Just to let you know what a Developer Preview is, it is basically a preview for Developers on the Android Platform for the new Operating System that Google has been working on which will succeed the Android Nougat. Nougat was a great operating system, and has performed exceptionally well on almost all Android Devices. My favourite being the one on the Pixel and the S7 Edge.

So coming to the quick points on the Android O Developer Preview, below is whats new. Have a look!

  • Notifications - On the home screen, when you long press any icon apart from regular new actions that were visible like on the Pixel and the S7 Edge, you will also notice another section that shows the notifications. Its a pretty cool feature that sometimes saves time going into the app.
  • Picture in Picture or PIP - This feature is one of the most awaited, especially since we watch an enormous amount of YouTube Video, and dont want to miss any episode and want to work side by side. Multi- Window is something else and PIP is something like how you have the Facebook messenger floating button. But this is primarily useful for Video Playback.
  • New Smileys in Hangouts - You will notice a new range of colourful smileys that are available on Hangouts and probably users of Allo. Try them out, some cool smileys!
  • Color Management - The colour scheme in the Android O has been greatly improved, which first can be seen as on the notification bar. On the Pixel, the notification bar and settings bar has now changed to completely white. Even the buttons on top have been moved below. The settings has now got all similar functionalities grouped together.

Above are just a few of them. If you want to know more about all the features on the Android O Developer Preview then follow this link. You can also signup for the Android O Developer Preview by enrolling in the Android O Beta Program though this link
