Netflix vs Amazon Prime

So Netflix launched in India back in 2016 where they had big plans to capture a large number of subscriber. Netflix for people who do not know is an Online Movie Streaming Platform which lets you select from a large database of Movies in Standard Definition, High Definition as well as newly introduced Ultra High Definition. Amazon Prime Video also launched along with Netflix back in the year 2016, which is not far back. Amazon Prime Video does not have such an exhaustive database as Netflix but it does the job to provide quality entertainment at a very low cost.

CONTENT
Netflix and Prime Video has a very large database of movies. But the major distribution of content is done by Netflix in terms of volume. At-least in India Netflix seems to have a larger choice of movies as compared to Amazon. I did a lot of search for some movies that I could find on Netflix and not on Prime.

However the way licensing and distribution works is a bit different. Just like brands may choose a particular platform to exclusively market their products. In the similar way, Prime Video has a lot of exclusive content that is only available on its platform. Similarly Netflix has its own set of programmes that are co-produced, produced and distributed by Netflix itself and these would mostly be TV Programs and Seasons. For a person who likes watching a lot of serials, programs with seasons, Netflix is the right choice for you. They have a good collection of movies as well.

Prime Video might not offer so much in terms of the content relating to TV Serials or Episodes.

PRICING

Amazon Prime Video is free for users who are Amazon Prime Members on their e-commerce website which just costs Rs. 500/- per year which is way cheaper than Netflix. But the pricing is likely to change in the near future.

You can watch movies on either of these apps or the web platform available on the App Store and Play Store. The app is absolutely free to download but the subscription costs money through in-app purchases.
