Lenovo P2: First Impressions!

Yeah so , one of my employees and good friend recently purchased the Lenovo P2 and I did an unboxing of the phone along with him and gave some initial impressions on my Youtube channel through this link. I am normally pretty apprehensive when it comes to using Chinese and purely chinese brand phones but I was impressed with how good Lenovo and Motorola have worked on this product in terms of design and specifications.

Packaging

The entire packaging of the product looks very nice and sleek. Something that you could easily carry around. I just wish that it could be smaller in height, because the width of the box looks fine to me. It is packed in a tight plastic cling wrap along Lenovo seal which you should check before unboxing if tampered with and immediately report to Lenovo. The product says manufactured by Motorola LLC in China and it is imported by Lenovo India.

Design

The device has a complete Aluminium Unibody design and that fantastic looking 5.5" SUPER AMOLED screen that just stands out from the rest. I have not seen a better screen in this budget as compared to other handsets. Even the Moto M was not that great looking as this one is. The back has the branding of Lenovo and the IMEI numbers.

On the left hand side of the phone you have the SIM Card tray which supports a Hyrbid DUAL SIM slot with 4G capability and VOLTE support as well. It also has a button that helps you switch between Ultra Power Saving Mode and regular usage. Ultra Power Saving mode gives you longer battery life.

On the right hand side you have the power button and the Volume Rockers. You also have a 13.0 MP camera on the rear and a 5.0 MP camera on the Front. It also has a super fast Finger Print scanner that unlocks the phone on touching your finger, without having the need to physically click the button or press power button to show the screen and then unlock.

Specifications

Coming to the technical specifications of the device it comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa Core CPU clocked at 2 Ghz and an Adreno 506 with UBWC at 550 Mhz. It also has 4 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of storage which is expandable upto 128GB using a Micro SD card slot. As mentioned about the cameras also it has a 13.0 MP rear facing camera with Sony Sensor but I dont think it comes with OIS. Also it has a 5.0 MP front facing camera .

The phone also has support for LED indicator that you can customise in the Android OS. The most stunning design aspect of the phone is the 5.5 " SUPER AMOLED screen which just makes the colours stand out. I think this was a good choice by Lenovo.

The biggest Punch Factor of this phone is the massive 5100 MaH power battery which lenovo claims to give 78 hours of talk time which is a whooping 3 days! and 32 days of standby. It weighs about 177 gms and is 8.3 mm thin. It kind of feels a little bulky to hold. The phone also comes in along with NFC support so maybe in future you can expect touch based services coming to your device.

Impressions

So all in all 2 major and important factor about this phone is that this device is actually built for those users who have a lot of talking to be done on your phone and do not want to carry your power bank all the time. The processor is the same as used in the Moto Z Play, and seeing the success of the battery performance of this Lenovo decided to pack in this processor to further improve battery life.

Another very good factor of this phone is the build quality. So if you happen to keep your phone on the table it would look classy with the SUPER AMOLED screen and the back finish. Camera we happened to click some pictures, its good but not great. Yes also since this is not a camera phone really but a battery phone. Somewhat reminds me of the One Plus design, although One Plus phones are a lot more slimmer. But nevertheless its a good first impression from me.
