ONE PLUS X: The best BUDGET Smartphone with the best SPECS!

Overview:
This is one review that I am definitely going to enjoy doing. Primarily because One Plus is one of the best PREMIUM build quality phones that you can ever get at half the price of probably a Galaxy S7 or a Note 7 or any kind of high end device. This is one device that is capable of beating the likes of Apple when it comes to sheer performance. I am a dual user - ie. I carry an iPhone and an Android device. As far as my android devices go , I like to experiment with different android phones and happen to change my android device as frequently as six months.

I came to know about the One Plus first in 2014 from one of my friend in the US and he happened to actually show me how good the device was. Of course he was using the US version of the One Plus which ran on Cyanogen Mod, which I found much much better than the Oxygen OS in the Indian versions. I was planning on changing my device from the Moto G3 which i considered one of my snappiest and best waterproof android phones and went on to seeing a lot of YouTube tech videos by MKBHD,GeekyRanjit,C4ETech,Android Authority and so on and decided on going with a One Plus X!

Design:
Believe me or not this phone looks Spectacular. Beginning from the all glass back display to the fine finishes on the sides of the phone to a glossy black front display, this is one of the best looking smartphones you can get. There are two variants to the design one, is called as the Onyx or the super glossy version and the other is the Fire-Baked Ceramic version which is much more costlier.

It has a highly fluid design running from edge to edge all the way to the back of the device. It also comes with a stylish charger that has shades or red and white. Although no headphones are shipped with the device. You need to purchase them separately. There is a power button and volume rockers on the right side of the screen and a hardware notification/sound toggle for General,Priority and No Sound settings on android. On top is the headphone jack.

At the bottom of the phone is the speakers at one end and at the other is the microphone which is deceptive and looks like a speaker. There is a front - facing speaker above the screen that gives crystal clear sound. It also has a LED notification light which is customisable due to Oxygen OS support. It sports a 5 Inch Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Display with Full HD resolution.

Specifications:
Now coming to the specification, you need to understand that when it comes to making budget smartphones, many smartphone manufacturers compromise on either build quality, or on the software of the phone. However, when it comes to One Plus, its "Never Settle" as their tagline goes.

The One Plus X comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad Core CPU clocked at 2.3 GHZ , Adreno 330 GPU, 3Gigs of RAM with blazing performance with regular use and gaming. It has a 2,525 mAH Non-Removable LiPo battery which roughly will give you about a days usage , as per what I have experienced on my phone.

It is a DUAL SIM phone that comes with a hybrid sim slot and can accommodate two 4G/4G sim slots or 1 4G sim slot and upto 128 Gigs of SD Card storage. By default it comes in a 16Gig variant which i think might not be enough for a user who's primary device is this.

It runs on stock android 5.1.1 powered by Oxygen OS and is upgradable to Android M after the recent OTA update in September 2016. This update makes the phone even more snappy and agile. One BEST part about this smartphone is the camera and it rocks a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and 8MP front facing camera with f/2.4 aperture that takes the best shots. Talking about the front facing camera, if you do love taking selfies, this will give you definitely one of the best selfies that you can shoot. Plus the image quality and resolution does not degrade. Although a higher aperture means that the background would not be so blurred as you would expect like on a rear facing camera with a higher aperture or lower f. If you click a lot of macro shots as well this is a good option  for you.

Price and Variants:
It comes in two variants as I said - the Onyx black version and the Ceramic Limited Edition. The Onyx black 16 Gig version costs about 15,000/- INR and the Ceramic would be somewhere between 18,000/- to 22,000/- , however the listing has been removed from Amazon.

This product is exclusively available on Amazon only. If you are looking to get a high end spec phone then I suggest without thinking to go for this. One issue you need to take care is the One Plus Service Centers may not be flooded in the country . For me it was about 50kms from my place so if I need to get my phone flashed or something like that I have to travel al the way, which I found inconvenient .

However, if you do know android well, then you can follow instructions on One Plus Website to flash or upgrade your phone with the latest Oxygen OS. One Plus is one of those Chinese brands that resembles the Apple and Samsung in terms of Flagships but at half the rate. So this is definitely a brand to watch out for.
