To develop applications, whether on web, mobile, tv ,tablet etc. you will always need design tools that are available on the market. Many design tools are paid and are very expensive, also reason being that designers are highly creative and being highly creative pays off alot. I am sure new startups and companies who are into the field of web or mobile development would not want to spend alot, and would also not want to pirate software.
So in this article I am giving you some tools that will help you out in the process of designing your User Experience or User Interface for any type of application. Depending on the type of Laptop, Desktop or Tablet you have I would recommend it as follows.
Windows Users
I am sure most of Windows Users today use Photoshop or Corel draw for all their basic needs. But photoshop and Corel draw are one of the most expensive design tools available. So in such cases what alternatives could you use? Some of them are listed as below.
Paint - This is one of the most widely used tools on the Windows Platform. We have been using it for screenshot or that kind of work. However paint does the job much more than that. If you have ever used trial versions of complex softwares like Photoshop or Corel, you can play around with Paint with which you can design stunning User Interfaces. It all depends on how creative you are.
Mac Users
Macs have some limitations when it comes to design tools available as compared to Windows. So your best bet could be something below.
1. GIMP - This is one tool that I widely use when I do Video Editing for my YouTube videos, however you might not really enjoy the User Interface here. It looks more or less like a scattered version of Photoshop. But you can more or less work around with this to get the most out of it.
Available on both Windows and Mac.
2. Adobe XD - My favourite tool by far from all design tools, but ... yes a but, it has a couple of shortcomings when it comes to editing pictures using masks and crops which I will explain does much better in another software called "Sketch". Adobe XD is an Experience Design tool, so basically you can design something and make a prototype of the design, which means that you can design a couple of screens and connect them together on the tool interface and then run it directly to your device using the XD app. This will make you feel like you are really using the app.
Available exclusively for Mac. As of now its in beta and free to use.
